Stellar Lineup of Hip Hop & Dance Artists Rework The Classic Savoy Catalog

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:    The Savoy Label Group, home to legendary jazz label Savoy Jazz and the brand new groove imprint Savoy Jazz Worldwide, will propel the classic jazz catalog into the ears and minds of a new generation when RE-BOP: SAVOY JAZZ REMIXED hits the streets in May.   Maverick artists, DJs and producers from the worlds of hip hop and dance have taken the masterworks of Charlie Parker, Herbie Mann, Dizzy Gillespie, Cannonball Adderley and others and have reinterpreted them, reverently transforming them with their unique musical vision.   Among the artists participating are A Tribe Called Quest's Ali Shaheed Muhammad, "Boots" Riley of The Coup, DJ Spooky, Saint Etienne, King Britt and Quantic.   Produced by Josh Sherman and Stu Fine, RE-BOP updates the urbane jazz vibes of the past to fit the sounds of a modern cityscape from the streets to the after hours clubs. RE-BOP: SAVOY JAZZ REMIXED is in stores May 9.
