SAINT ETIENNE SIGNS WITH SAVOY JAZZ
“TALES FROM TURNPIKE HOUSE” DUE JAN. 24
New US Release Includes Three Never-Before-Released Tracks
US Tour Planned For February
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Santa Monica, CA : Legendary recording
label Savoy Jazz, home to Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles
Davis, John Coltrane and many others is now home to pop icons
Saint Etienne. The all-new recording Tales From Turnpike House
will see a US release on January 24. The Savoy Jazz collection
described as “Pop Perfection!” by Attitude Magazine,
contains three never-before-released songs recorded specifically
for the US release. The first single “Side Streets,”hits
Triple AAA radio in December and a US tour follows in February.
Almost a genre unto themselves, Saint Etienne have always defied
easy categorization—post-modern, jazz-inflected, baroque
dance pop with a folk sensibility—whatever has been written
about their sweet sound, they have always been held in the highest
esteem for their immaculate musical pastorals. Tales From Turnpike
House is a concept album--a collection of stories centered on
the habitués of a tower block apartment—“A
Day In The Life” for the new millennium if you will. From
sun-up to “Goodnight”, the moods are many on Turnpike
House, yet all resonate with the effortless beauty and smart
pop sensibility Saint Etienne are revered for. They’ve
never sounded more self-assured…Uncut Magazine calls it
“gorgeous concept pop from the patron saints of suburbia…”
Mojo follows suit describing Turnpike House as “music
from a post-code synonymous with class.”
Complete track listing is as follows: Side Streets, A Good Thing,
Sun In My Morning, Milk Bottle Symphony, Dream Lover (new for
US), Lightning Strikes Twice, Slow Down At The Castle, Oh My
(new), Last Orders For Gary Stead, I’m Falling (new),
Stars Above Us, Goodnight. Fans can also expect a handful of
fierce remixes as well…
In February ’06, Saint Etienne will embark on a nationwide
US Tour—a rare treat for US fans! Cities confirmed include
New York, Boston, Washington DC, Chicago, Miami, Seattle, San
Francisco and Los Angeles. Details TBD.
