Marian McPartland - The First Lady of Jazz Piano
The classically trained pianist Marian McPartland became a fixture on New York's legendary Swing Street during the 1950s. Her longstanding engagement at the Hickory House would inextricably link the Marian McPartland Trio (featuring the great drummer Joe Morello) with that New York landmark. Half a century later, the genial host of the Peabody Award-winning radio show "Piano Jazz" is still swinging blithely. |
