DEXTER DIGS IN :
The Young Dexter Gordon
Dexter Gordon (02/27/1923 - 04/25/1990) was one of the great improvisers in jazz and one of the first to create a distinctive bebop style on the tenor saxophone. His playing throughout these early Savoy sessions is marked by a robust tone, striking authority and an emotional directness that made him such a great communicator. Add a dash of swagger and you've got the essence of Long Tall Dexter's style.
