DENON 20-bit Technology

Mastersonic Series

[ Experience the Mastersonic difference] The idea behind the Mastersonic Series is to use DENON's state-of-the-art recording technology to present listeners with titles rigorously selected from among our plentiful supply or music sources with the finest sound quality which can currently be conceived.

We intend to inject the most advanced technology into every stage in the process from recording to manufacturing.

The series will therefore be produced using the 20-bit digital recording technology developed by DENON, the pioneer of digital recording. We will also make use of our analog audio technology and high-quality disc manufacturing technology, both of which are underscored by a rich fund of experience and expertise.

20-bit Recording
[Mastersonic 20-bit Recording] This series realizes the highest quality sound which is conceivable today. This is done by processing high-level digital signals with a 20-bit digital editing unit and a mastering console using the sound from a master tape recorded with a 20-bit digital recording machine.

The signals on the 20-bit master tape are converted into 16-bit data by means of the 20/16 digital transquantizer developed by DENON's technical staff and without deterioration of tone and quality.

20-bit Processing
[Mastersonic 20-bit Processing] Sound sources on original tapes recorded with the most advanced 16-bit multi-track digital recorder are mixed down with the most minute care.

The definitive mixed signals, with their now greatly increased quantities of information, are then recorded with a 20-bit recording machine. Finally, these signals are converted into 16-bit quality using a 20/16 data without deterioration in sound digital trasquantizer.

One-Point Recording
[Mastersonc One Point Recording] One point recordings are produced employing the simplest of methods; merely installing two microphones at the optimum position in the recording studio or hall.

Since this recording method entails no mixing or any other such operations, a sound quality characterized by the most natural balance and separation and with a rich spatial quality can be enjoyed with an undistorted and clear tone.
